Our Philosophy

Our philosophy at The Flexing Physio clinic is to utilise movement and hands on therapy to provide care and quality education to you as our patient.  Our informal and relaxed approach with patients allows you to feel more at ease when sharing your experience so that we can better formulate a plan together to ultimately, get you BETTER and STRONGER.

Too many times have we met somebody who tells us that a health professional in the past has told them that their ‘hips are out of place’ or they ‘cannot bend over or else the spine will explode’. These phrases are untrue and unhelpful. Here, at The Flexing Physio clinic, we are strong believers that the human body is robust and can readapt to the loads and stresses placed on it. In our facility, our Physio can guide you through certain movements (e.g squat, bench press or deadlift) using our gym facility and equipment or fit you with an appropriate brace for that certain body part to help the injury settle down faster. Our job is to help you recover from your current injury/ailment by working with you through hands on therapy and prescribed exercises so that you can become more confident in your body to do the things you want, and love to do.

What to expect from your initial physio consult...

Physio is shaking patient's hand after a physiotherapy consult.

1) Your physio will start by asking you heeeeaps of questions to better understand your injury. The more questions they ask, the more puzzle pieces they have to help solve your issue.

2) With your consent, your physio will then perform a physical examination which may look like asking you to move in certain ways, moving your joints around, palpating and/or asking you to do specific tasks such as hopping on one leg.

3) Your physio will explain to you what they think is causing your pain and/or what structures are injured. They may use anatomical plastic models or the anatomy App on the iPad to allow you better understanding with what the heck is likely to be happening.

4) Depending on what is appropriate and with your consent, your physio will likely do hands on therapy (mobilisations, manipulations, soft tissue work etc) and exercises in the gym to load up certain body areas to get you strong.

5) Finally, the physio will give you a short list of clear and concise homework for you to work on whilst at home or at the gym in the following week. You and your physio will also discuss when it is best for you to come back for follow up if required.
